Well we had our home study interviews on 2/17/16. We officially met our social worker who is very nice. During this appointment we were both interviewed individually and together as a couple. Things got a bit personal... We had to talk about our lives as children, our parents relationships, our relationships with our parents, how we view our spouse, medical histories, how we were disciplined as children, how we plan to discipline our child; we were questioned in depth about addictions and abuse, asked about what we are going to do for child care, and the list goes on and on. To add to the fun, I had to go into detail about the issues with my father and his death just two days after it happened. All I can say is if you are a private person, adoption is not for you. I think our social worker knows more about us than our own parents do.
So what's next? We have our official home visit this coming Thursday, 3/3/16. Our social worker will be coming to our house to make sure that it is a suitable environment for a child. She said that the home study process should only take another three weeks! So keep your fingers crossed on Thursday that our home visit goes smoothly!
